In this article, I am going to cover some major gears that all DJs should know and it is a must-have. What matters most as a DJ is your presentation plus gears.
This is part of a series I would be personally coaching you about for upcoming disc Jockeys on organizing their gears professionally to stand out.
We’ll cover all ‘gears’. I’ll start by showing you the various parts that all DJ set-up share in common. You’ll learn why nowadays it’s almost always necessary to have a DJ laptop, and we’ll look at what software you’ll need to have for your laptop.
I’ll talk about your hardware choices – not only the DJ gear itself, but all the accessories and extras you’ll need to complete your full set-up.
And finally, I’ll show you how to set everything up properly for smooth disc jocking. Before you can have any confidence about your setup, you need a good understanding of what DJ gear does, what makes it so important.
Simply put Dj gears are the equipment DJs use in entertaining a particular audience at a given time.
I’m here to show and help you understand what the pros see when they assess any DJ set-up. Now that we have many Djs around here who do not understand what this means.
There are many things they looked at. But the four(4) major ones we are going to look at today are;
- Two independent music sources. In order for a DJ to play music continuously, he needs two music sources (decks).
2. A way of switching between the decks. A ‘mixer’ (to give this part of any DJ set-up its proper title) is a must-have.
3. A way of getting the music to the audience. The next step in the equation is to identify the loudspeakers and the amplification system necessary to make the music loud enough so that the people can hear the DJ set well.
4. Listening to noise and unbalanced sounds the audience isn’t hearing. Typically via a pair of headphones. All pro DJs need a way of listening to the music source or sources that the audience isn’t currently hearing to fix that problem.
